Oatmeal

topic posted Tue, June 19, 2007 - 6:10 AM by  dob
On the subject of oatmeal for breakfast, a couple of questions.

1. Instant or Regular and does it matter?

2. What do you flavor your oatmeal with? I grew up on butter, sugar,
and milk, but somehow that just doesn't seem like a good plan
these days!!! (lol)

Thanks for your answers.

i just have the regular kind, you can cook it in the microwave or oven top.

I add bananas, brown sugar and cream on mine.

If you've got the time, steel-cut is the best, otherwise rolled (not instant) if you must.

I've had much success with poaching dried fruit in just a little more water than I'll need to make the oatmeal, adding the oatmeal at the end. Trader Joe's may still have their chopped dried fruit mix that works very well for this.

I have oatmeal at work everyday for breakfast. Yogurt and fresh pineapple chunks on the bottom of the bowl, then a layer of oatmeal, topped with crushed nuts. I look forward to this everyday.

I use regular, don't like the instant... I think it tastes funny.

I flavor with shaved Mexican chocolate (Ibarra brand) Not a lot, though... mmmm, think I'll go make some oatmeal.

Also - steel cut oats. I cook them overnight in a mini-crockpot so they're ready for me in the morning.

I know this is an older topic, but I just joined this group. I have been eating the Weight Control instant oatmeal for a few months now, and I am happy with my weight-loss resu lts. The great thing about this product is they come in various flavors that fit different tastes. I add just a little bit of milk to mine.
